One of the things I love most about summer is the long list of sidewalk sales.

The one happening this week-end is probably the most popular one: Ste. Catherine Street Shopping in downtown Montreal.

When: July 16 and July 17, 2011 (2 DAYS ONLY)
To get there: Guy metro

My favorite samples to get are from P&G. They don't send you one sample, they send you a box of samples. And they are perfect for travel.

Did you know that you can put up to 5000$ each year in a tax-free saving account? Even if you don't have 5000$ to put aside, even if you don't pay income taxes, inquire about the special rates you'd get by placing money in a TFSA/CELI with their banks. Different banks have different rates.

I have placed some money in a TSFA/CELI with Desjardins, and not only do I get a great yield rate, but I also get 'ristourne' (whatever the English word for that is).

One of the best store loyalty cards is the one from Yves Rocher. Each 5$ spent will get your card stamped, and with just a few stamps, you get a free gift. PLUS, each month, you'll get a postcard from the company with special offers and freebies*!

Their products are VERY nice, and perfect if you're looking for gift ideas.

*No purchase necessary. You can literally go to the store, give them your postcard, and you'll get the freebie/discount!

ETA: Apparently, you also get a gift when it's your birthday.

My friend Mary-Jane sells vintage gently loved items: jewelry, clothes, and accessories.

Visit her blog here: http://ladyjanestreasuretrove.blogspot.com/

She lives in Montreal, so no shipping fees! (Plus, you'll be helping her pay for her braces haha.)

Welcome to frugal_quebec. If you're always looking to save money, and live better, you've come to the right place. I will be sharing my tips on how, where, and what to do in order to save, get things free or make money without doing much of anything. Please, do the same.

I've created tags (sidebar on the left) to make it easier to navigate on this community, please use them when making your posts.

Since this community focuses on Quebec, you can make your posts in French or in English. I'm assuming most people are bilingual here.

Thanks and happy saving!
